About National HIV Testing Day

Community-based organizations across Saskatchewan coordinated the first province-wide HIV testing day on June 27, 2017, in response to high rates of HIV infection in the province. The purpose of the “Saskatchewan HIV Testing Day” was to promote and offer HIV testing to the general public in an effort to educate, reduce stigma, and normalize HIV testing.

In partnership with local HIV/AIDS community-based organizations and groups, targeted ‘testing fairs’ were organized across the province by various Regional Health Authorities, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), and the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA).
